On Earth Day, we proudly announce: Mystic Nails now ships carbon-neutrally worldwide
Today is Earth Day, and on this occasion we’d like to share our latest environmental efforts with you.
For years, we have consciously strived to leave the smallest possible ecological footprint. One of the most important pillars of this mindset is neutralizing the carbon emissions generated by our parcel deliveries. This initiative was launched in 2022, when we committed to offset the carbon footprint of all domestic shipments through tree planting.
This year, we’ve taken our commitment to a new level: In 2024, we are also making the shipping of our international and wholesale orders carbon neutral.
Why do we do this?
Because we believe that a business shapes the future not only through its products but through its values. And we want to help build a future in which the beauty industry is not a burden on the planet—but part of the solution.
What does carbon-neutral shipping mean?
Every year, Mystic Nails requests an official, audited report from its logistics partner. This report details the total CO2-equivalent emissions generated by our shipments—whether domestic, international, or wholesale.
Our logistics partner calculates the carbon footprint not only based on the greenhouse gases emitted by fuel combustion, but also includes the emissions from fuel production. This provides a full picture of our actual footprint.
And that’s just the shipping emissions!
Our logistics partner also calculates indirect emissions from their business operations, such as energy use in their buildings. So if a sheet is printed or a coffee is brewed at their office, that emission is also counted and proportionally distributed to our parcel count.
In 2024, the additional carbon footprint from these indirect emissions for our domestic deliveries was 599.35 kg CO2e.
In total, the full carbon footprint of our domestic and export shipments in 2024—including direct transport emissions and proportionally allocated emissions from our logistics partner’s operations—was 5,444.36 kg CO2e, or 5.44 tons. (For comparison, the average annual carbon footprint of a Hungarian citizen is 4–5 tons, while in the U.S., it’s about 14–16 tons per person.)
We worked with the Forest Rescue Foundation’s experts to convert this amount into tree planting requirements: approximately 357 trees are needed to neutralize the emissions—depending on soil conditions and tree species.
How does the process work?
- We request the official emission report from our logistics partner each year.
- We calculate our total carbon footprint from all shipping activities.
- In cooperation with the Forest Rescue Foundation, we determine how many trees need to be planted.
- We transfer the required funds to the Foundation, which takes care of the tree planting.
What does this mean for our customers?
A package from Mystic Nails—whether delivered within Hungary or abroad—does not increase the Earth's carbon load.
This means that every one of our customers contributes to building a more sustainable future. A world where beauty and environmental awareness go hand in hand.
